ABOUT THE INTERNSHIP

The mission

The Video Editor Intern at SA Media works directly with the creative team to produce polished, platform-ready video content for live client campaigns. You will be editing real content that reaches real audiences across social media and digital channels from your first week.

Your success will be measured by the quality and consistency of your edits, your ability to deliver on brief and on time, and your responsiveness to creative feedback. This is a role for a student who has strong editorial instincts, genuine technical proficiency, and the work ethic to produce broadcast-ready content under real production timelines.

WHAT YOU GET

What this internship actually gives you

Published Video Work

Your edits appear on live client channels and campaigns with real audiences. Not student film projects.

Senior Creative Mentorship

Receive direct feedback from experienced creative directors on your editorial decisions and production quality.

Cross-Format Experience

Edit across short-form social content, brand films, testimonials, and digital campaigns to build genuine range in your portfolio.

AI-Enhanced Workflow

Learn how to use AI-powered editing and transcription tools to increase your speed and output quality.

Flexible Remote Work

Work remotely on a schedule designed to fit around your academic commitments at a minimum of 16 hours per week.

Conversion Potential

Strong performers are considered for extended contracts and full-time creative roles. Your internship is an extended audition.

THE ROLE

What you will do

01

Edit short-form video content for client social media campaigns including reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn video, adapting each cut for platform format and audience behaviour.

02

Edit long-form video content including brand films, testimonial videos, event highlights, and thought leadership content for use across client websites and digital channels.

03

Work from creative briefs and shot lists to produce polished edits that reflect the client brand voice, visual identity, and campaign objectives.

04

Add captions, graphics, transitions, sound design, and colour grading to video content to bring it to a broadcast-ready standard.

05

Coordinate with the creative and strategy teams during the review and revision process, incorporating feedback efficiently and producing final exports in the required formats and specifications.

06

Manage and organise raw footage libraries, project files, and asset exports so the team can access and review work efficiently at every stage of production.

07

Support the production team with any pre-production tasks including reviewing footage, flagging issues, and identifying the strongest clips from a shoot.

08

Research and stay current on video trends, editing styles, and platform-specific best practices across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and LinkedIn.

09

Assist with the creation of video templates, reusable graphics packages, and intro and outro sequences that improve the efficiency of repeat content production.

10

Contribute to SA Media owned video content including case study edits, team content, and promotional material that represents the firm externally.
